Membrane cracked paint has many causes such as:
- The priming or the residue is not dry, the priming is too thick, the paint will be easy to crack after painted
- Use different solvents or many different suppliers
- Processing too early so that the product has not enough time for moisture recovery
- When priming 1 TP, coating 2 TP, the coating will revive the priming.
To remedy this situation, painters should note:
- Between paint layers, allow time for drying before painting the next layer. Don’t paint too thick.
- You should use the same solvent or a supplier
- Allowing time for the wood to recover after drying (the wood’s moisture is stable at about 12 - 14%)
- Need to primer and coat with the same system or using 2 TP priming, 1 TP coating.
